Wooden Ships
Originating from America, and now stocked in many boutiques across Australia, Wooden Ships is a stunning knitwear label, who believe in ethical production and reducing their carbon footprint.
Made in Bali, all knits are produced in a carefully designed factory and employees are paid above the award wage and provided with free health care. While knitting machines are traditionally operated by men, Wooden Ships have initiated a program to train women and break cultural barriers. Today, more than 60% of the company's knitters are women.
The Wooden Ships factory is 85% solar powered, they compost all organic materials and recycle all paper, glass, metals etc. All excess yarn is donated locally to be used for stuffing in pillows and dolls.
We love the Wooden Ships story and their products. We hope you do too xx
